The 2018 Honda Clarity is an all-new entry in the plug-in hybrid market. This reliable, convenient, and practical midsize sedan boasts an efficient hybrid powertrain. It’s also available in two trim levels: the base Plug-In Hybrid version and the more upscale Plug-In Hybrid Touring version.
Both trim levels of the Honda Clarity comes with the same advanced powertrain options. Under the hood is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine working together with an electric motor and 17 kWh lithium-ion battery. Mated to an Electronic CVT with Sport Mode and Deceleration Paddle Selectors, the 2018 Honda Clarity yields an EPA-estimated rating of 44 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway, and 42 mpg combined, with only the gas engine. When using electric only, the Honda Clarity achieves 110 MPGe and a 47-mile driving range.*
The Honda Clarity was designed to be as sophisticated and comfortable as it is efficient and smart. The sedan is spacious enough to accommodate five passengers. A few of its standard features include comforts like dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror, in addition to technology such as an 8-inch audio display touchscreen with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility. The Touring trim level offers a few available luxuries, including the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ and leather-trimmed seats.
The 2018 Honda Clarity comes standard with the advanced Honda Sensing™ suite of safety features, including driver assist and alert systems such as Forward Collision Warning, a Collision Mitigation Braking System™, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow. The vehicle’s frame was also designed with safety in mind and features Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ body structure. Additional driver assist perks include Honda LaneWatch™, a standard rearview camera, an Anti-Lock Braking System with Brake Assist, and Vehicle Stability Assist™ with Traction Control.
